- Keep an open mind: All too often in collaboration, one side takes the position of being a teacher or leader and the other takes the position of being a learner or follower. To successfully collaborate, both sides should teach as well as learn so that information can be shared freely.
- Agree to Disagree: You will not always agree on everything and that’s okay. You don’t need to agree on everything to collaborate with somebody successfully. When you disagree with an idea, it is best to let it go and come up with something you can both agree on. Try to end your disagreement pleasantly and continue to work on building a positive working relationship.
